how to speed up computer performance

Over time every computer and laptop will begin to slow down inevitably. But for some computer users, they absolutely have no idea on “why is my computer so slow” or how to restore faster computer performance that once had. Here, let’s take a look at the most common reasons for why a computer begins to slow and how to speed up computer performance correspondingly.

To speed up computer performance, you need to well protect your computer again viruses and spyware. It is very easy for your computer to be infected by viruses and spyware even though it is used only for daily use. Once your computer is infected, lots of system resource will be wasted up by those infections. In this way, when there is not enough resource for the computer or program to start up, the crashes will appear. Also, viruses are able to attack and remove any file such as Layoutdll12OEM.dll from the PC, causing the computer to run improperly. So it is better that you can always check your computer for any infections or malicious files hidden in your computer and delete them immediately. By the way, you have to make your virus definitions up-to-date by updating all available versions.

Then, you need to clean your desktop. Tons of unnecessary files, including folders, pictures and program icons can drastically decrease the overall system performance. Creating a new folder and remove the unwanted files into the folder is the best choice to speed up computer and tune up the system performance immediately.

Same as cleaning the desktop, you’d better uninstall programs completely with a professional uninstall tool. Just remember that the more programs install on the computer, the slower the computer will be. When there is no enough disk space, or system resources to run these applications, you will encounter computer running slow problems. So, you should uninstall all unneeded programs from the computer immediately. But in my opinion, it is best to uninstall them with a well-designed program uninstall tool to completely get rid all components of the unneeded programs; otherwise, the leftover registry entries will greatly mess up your computer performance.

After the above steps, defragment your hard disk regularly. This process helps to rearrange the fragmented files on the hard disk, making them stay in order at the same place contiguously and much easier to be accessed to. Hence, this helps to more effectively speed up computer performance. To do this, you should right click the drive to be defragmented and select “Properties” -> Tools ->Defragment Now to defragment the drive.

Last but not least, clean up Windows registry. The Windows registry plays an important role in Windows system running for it functions in storing and managing the system and software settings for Windows-based operating system, including the system kernel, device drivers, system services, SAM, user interface and third party programs. Any error in the registry or irregular accumulation of the registry errors has the ability to lead to severe system problems, including unexpectedly popped- up Blue Screen of Death errors, sudden system shutdown and critical system component corrupt. Once you clean up the registry, the problems above can be solved totally and you can easily optimize computer performance to the top.

Well, even though many causes can bring in the happening of a slow computer performance, most of them can be easily well taken care of in daily computer life and then restore PC performance. So, start forming a good habit in using computer from now on and there won’t be no question like “why is my computer so slow” anymore.
